Promise 08/27/2025

Fruit is the promise of seed.

There is more work to be done when it's time to harvest. Letting the fruit rot on the tree or vine is tempting when you just want to rest. Allowing the yield to spoil on the ground or the pantry is too easy when you are tired of the work. Imagine if the promise of mature, healthy fruit at the table never came to fruition. Maybe you would be jealous of the nextdoor garden. Maybe you would blame yourself, or others for letting you down.

Our work is never done, so we are given daily rest to continue with the jobs in life. What is preserved after growing season provides nourishment for times when gathering becomes sparse. Taking for granted what takes care of us, leads to long winters and bitter hearts. Contribute to the process of the harvest, and the harvest will fulfill its promise.
