Personal Inventory 06/15/2025
06/15/2025
We have multiple personal inventories that we carry with us from day to day. 1) Future: The things that we want to have, and believe we need to live a happy and fulfilling life. This also includes all the things we constantly worry about that hasn’t happened yet; 2) Present: The things we actually have, and the space they occupy in our daily lives; and 3) Past: A moral inventory that contains all of the positive and negative experiences in our history. Not only the joys, successes, and failures we hold onto, but also the resentments, fears, and guilt that comes with being human amongst other humans.
These inventories are important to us, but they are not necessarily accurate. We may find difficulty in them, especially if we see things as a matter of fact and haven’t taken the time to analyze what we keep on our wish lists, or in our pantry, closets, attics, and basements of our hearts and minds. Often, what we believe need for our future is unrealistic, what we have today has been taken for granted, and what we keep from the past is unnecessary. Not always, but often. If you took a look, would you be happy with what you may find? If not, then maybe a cleaning of house is in order.
